Vera's Brenda Blethyn herself has given ITV the seal of approval to carry on with a David Leon (Joe Ashworth) spin off and has said she would definitely make a guest appearance! let's keep those fingers crossed!
David Leon is currently in development on his next feature “Land of hope and Glory” with BBC Film and adapting for Television the novel “You could do something amazing with your life” the account of the final days of vigilante gunman Raoul Moat.
In addition he is working alongside The Forge to develop an original drama “The Listener” - a story inspired by a real life prison psychologist, tasked with the responsibility of rehabilitating traveller inmates, which he will write and direct. (as per davidjleon.co.uk)
David is also noted as a writer on the upcoming drama series, "Spirit"
Shy Bairns, David is adapting a companion of short films into a feature, being developed with BBC Film
David is working alongside BBH London/ Black sheep to adapt his short form documentary for Nowness about Ruqsana Begum, the only female British Muslim to be a world champion in any sport, into a narrative feature film
